Grantscape is a well-established charity with over twenty-five years of experience administering community benefit funds across England and Wales on behalf of energy companies and other funding bodies. When Grantscape decided to expand its operations into Scotland through a newly formed subsidiary, it needed a web presence that could represent that new entity clearly and independently - communicating the availability of funds to local organisations and providing a straightforward route for applicants to engage with the process.

Grantscape Scotland had no existing digital presence and no brand identity of its own. As a wholly owned subsidiary of the parent charity rather than a separate rebranded operation, the new entity needed something that felt visually connected to Grantscape's established identity whilst standing clearly on its own as a distinct Scottish operation.
The website had two equally important audiences to serve: energy companies and fund operators who needed to understand Grantscape Scotland's capability and process, and community non-profit organisations seeking grant funding for local projects. Both audiences needed a clear, simple, and trusted experience - and the site needed to rank well in search from the moment it launched, without the benefit of an existing backlink profile or domain history.
We began with the brand. With no existing Scotland-specific identity to work from, we developed a logo that reflected the Scottish context whilst maintaining clear visual alignment with the parent charity. The final mark gave Grantscape Scotland a credible, distinctive identity appropriate to its charitable mission.
With the brand established, we moved directly into design and build, taking a functional-first approach to the WordPress site - prioritising clarity of information, ease of navigation, and accessibility throughout. The audience for this site is broad, spanning both professional fund managers and community organisations with limited digital experience, so simplicity and directness were central to every design decision.
All on-site SEO factors were addressed from the outset. Clean URL structure, optimised metadata, structured content hierarchy, image optimisation, and schema markup were all considered and implemented during the build rather than retrofitted afterwards. Launching with a strong technical SEO foundation gave the site the best possible starting position in search, even without an existing domain history to draw on.
Grantscape Scotland launched with a clear, professional presence that accurately represents the subsidiary and serves both of its core audiences effectively. The functional-first design ensures community organisations can navigate the application process without friction, whilst the fund operator content communicates the charity's expertise and credentials with authority.
The technical SEO groundwork laid during the build gave the site a strong foothold in organic search from launch - ensuring that organisations across Scotland seeking community funding can find and access the funds available to them.
We continue to provide managed hosting and monthly support, maintaining the site's performance and keeping all WordPress systems current and secure.
