Astute Group is a specialist business operating across multiple divisions within the electrical components sector, with expertise spanning component distribution, creative design services, and global sourcing. 1WL has been Astute's web partner for a number of years, having delivered their WordPress Multisite infrastructure and subsequently maintained and developed their digital presence on an ongoing basis. Our familiarity with the business, its structure, and its goals makes each project more efficient and each decision better informed.

As Astute's business has grown and evolved, so too has the role their website needs to play. The group attends a significant number of industry events and marketing campaigns throughout the year, and the existing website - whilst functional - was not structured to support this activity effectively. Product manufacturer content had grown difficult to navigate, and the overall design, whilst still solid, had reached the point where a full refresh would better reflect the group's current positioning and ambitions.
The brief for this third redesign was clear in its priorities: improve the site's ability to support marketing campaigns and event attendance, restructure and simplify the product manufacturers section to get visitors to the information they need more quickly, and apply a design refresh that brought the visual presentation in line with where the business is today.
The depth of our existing knowledge of Astute's business meant that the discovery and planning phase was considerably more efficient than it would be with a new client. We understood the existing content architecture, the team's priorities, and the commercial context well enough to move quickly into structural planning without extensive onboarding.
The product manufacturers section received the most significant structural attention. The existing approach required too many steps for visitors to reach the specific manufacturer or product category they were looking for. We restructured the section with a clearer entry point, simplified navigation, and improved content hierarchy - reducing the number of clicks required whilst making the breadth of the range easier to understand at a glance.
The design refresh was applied with a strong focus on content delivery - ensuring that marketing campaign content, event information, and brand storytelling could be published and presented prominently without requiring development involvement for routine updates. The CMS was configured accordingly, giving the Astute team greater editorial flexibility across the key content areas identified in the brief.
The redesigned site gave Astute Group a platform that more accurately reflects the scale and ambition of the business, and that is better equipped to support the marketing and commercial activity the group undertakes throughout the year. The simplified product manufacturers section has improved the experience for trade visitors navigating the range, and the enhanced editorial flexibility has reduced the team's reliance on external development resource for content activity.
The long-term nature of our relationship with Astute means that the site will continue to evolve - each iteration benefiting from the accumulated understanding of the business that only a genuine partnership can provide.
